Floral Designs to Thank Nurses & Teachers

When we think of people who have significantly impacted our lives, family and friends most likely come to mind. But once we look outside those close relationships, one group of people clearly rises to the top as influencers – teachers. The very best teachers are not only educators, they are mentors and guides. Teachers identify talents and gifts that may be hidden, they elevate confidence and self-esteem, and they help each student to visualize a bright future. National Teachers Day was established to thank these very special people for everything they do to invest in someone else’s life. Marco Island Home Florist & Gifts is proud to be a part of celebrating our Marco Island and Naples teaching professionals. Globally Recognized:  More than 100 different nations observe Teacher’s Day at some point during the calendar year, but each has determined their own dates. The concept behind Teachers Day in the United States was the brainchild of Mattye Whyte Woodridge in 1944. Although she championed the cause before numerous people in government, it was her letter to Eleanor Roosevelt which did the trick. In 1953, the First Lady petitioned Congress to establish an official National Teacher’s Day. The observance is held annually on the second Tuesday of May, with an entire week of celebration surrounding it.floral designs

But the teachers are not the only very important people that we recognize this week. National Nurses Week came into being in 1954 and is celebrated from May 6-12 each year. Why acknowledge nurses? These amazing professionals are the cornerstone of any hospital, providing not only exceptional medical care but comfort, compassion, and hope. In fact, they are by our sides during some of the most intense and emotional times we experience.

A Fitting Tribute: May 12, the final day of the weeklong celebration, commemorates the birthday of Florence Nightingale, an English nurse known as the founder of professional nursing.

Whether to honor teachers or to show appreciation to nurses, the fresh floral designs from Marco Island Florist Home & Gifts are your perfect choice. With their vibrant spring colors, they brighten any desk or nurse’s station – and are guaranteed to remind these everyday heroes that they are appreciated for all they do for others.
