What do you know about Galentine’s Day?
If you’re like a lot of people, probably not a lot, so allow us at Marco Island Florist to explain. Galentine’s Day – February 13th – is an occasion set aside to celebrate the love female friends have for each other. It’s a fictional holiday inspired by a 2010 episode of NBC’s Parks and Recreation, in which the main character Leslie Knope takes all of her girlfriends out for a lunch and declares it “only the best day of the year.”
On the episode, which launched the idea of Galentine’s Day into the popular imagination, Leslie gives her besties gifts. Now, there is no explicit gift-giving tradition associated with this fun new day, but we want to make a case for flowers. Since your friends will be getting plenty of roses and chocolate the next day, choose flowers that go in another direction and really speak to the vibrant, lighthearted nature of your friendship. Consider something like our piece Whimsical.
Pink is featured prominently here, along with fuchsia and contrasting green. This is a fabulous arrangement to have delivered to your bestie at work, where she’ll be surprised and delighted to receive flowers a full day before everyone else. It’s important to let our friends know how much we love them. This Galentine’s Day, take the chance to do that through flowers.
