Flowers To Give Your Girls On Galentine’s Day

What do you know about Galentine's Day? If you're like a lot of people, probably not a lot, so allow us at Marco Island Florist to explain. Galentine's Day - February 13th - is an occasion set aside to celebrate the love female friends have for each other. It's a fictional holiday inspired by a 2010 episode of NBC's Parks and Recreation, in which the main character Leslie Knope takes all of her girlfriends out for a lunch and declares it "only the best day of the year." Flowers For Mind And Body Wellness

In study after study, the benefit of flowers on the body and the mind has been well proven. We know, for instance, that giving and receiving flowers keeps someone more in touch with their friends and family, which has obvious benefits on a person's well being. Hospitalized patients who have flowers or a potted plant in their room use less pain medication and have lower blood pressure when compared to their flower-less counterparts. At Marco Island Florist, we believe one of the best ways to help heal the mind and body is to surround yourself with oxygenating, mood enhancing flowers. Winter’s Delightful Flowers Are Worth Waiting For

Here in Marco Island, there's really no such thing as winter. We call it that, but really our landscape looks nothing like the rest of the country's in the cold season. And frankly, we here at Marco Island Florist couldn't be happier about it. We love being surrounded by green (and blue!) year round, and that we still get to enjoy winter-inspired flowers, too. Even though there will be no snow days for us this December, we're still setting our tables with centerpieces and bouquets that conjure a colder scene. 2018’s Vivid and Folksy Flowers

We here at Marco Island Florist are on top of all the trends, as much as we cherish the classic styles. We know that what lies ahead breathes new life into our floral work, even as our traditional faves keep it grounded. To that end, we welcome the insight that International Floral Distributors' annual trend report brings. Among the four distinct design approaches identified, we've singled out one to focus on in this week's blog. Why? Because it's so much fun. Read More about 2018’s Vivid and Folksy Flowers »

Yummy Secret Santa Gifts

Secret Santa, a gift swap that hinges on the giver concealing his identity from the recipient, has a mysterious background. As best we can tell, our modern version is an import from Scandinavia, where custom held that givers should go around knocking on doors and dropping presents at them (or in some cases, throwing them into the house!), all without being seen. Similar gift exchange traditions exist in Germany, Latin America, the Philippines, Ireland . . . You name it. It seems we can't get enough of the anonymous gift exchange, and we at Marco Island Florist are no different. Read More about Yummy Secret Santa Gifts »

Merry and Bright Holiday Office Decor

Brighten up your office this holiday season with some magical floral decor that goes well beyond the poinsettia variety. There's a lot of fun to be had hanging the tinsel garlands and decking out the Christmas tree with your team. Doing so builds workplace morale and gives everyone a break from seasonal stress. One way to add to the cheer is to put out some fresh blooms in holiday colors, or to gift your coworkers and colleagues with a bouquet that can grace their desks and remind them that you're grateful for their efforts. The Centerpiece at the Heart of the Table

With all that goes on at Thanksgiving - especially if you're hosting it - it can be hard to stay centered and remember what the holiday is about. Amid the hustle and bustle of grocery shopping, planning, organizing and cooking, we can forget to take a minute to appreciate what's around us. Know what helps? Flowers. The centerpiece you put at the heart of your Thanksgiving table is often the last thing you add to it before the food and the people. It represents the beauty and bounty of the season, offering you and your guests something lovely to focus on as you eat, chat and share your blessings. Given its significance, we at Marco Island Florist think your centerpiece is something you should choose with a lot of care and attention. Read More about The Centerpiece at the Heart of the Table »
